Association: Russia’s inbound tourism to rise 20-30% in 2016

MOSCOW, Jul 14 (PRIME) -- Russian tour operators expect that inbound tourism will rise by 20-30% in 2016, although it decreased in January–March thanks to an inflow of Asian tourists, the Association of Tour Operators said in a statement on Thursday.

“The negative news flow does not trigger an outflow of tourists from Russia any more, tour operators said. Major European destinations have stabilized gradually, and a tourist inflow from some of them has increased on the year,” the association said.

Inbound tourism department’s head Alexander Maklyarovsky said, “The tourist inflow from France increased by about 10-15%. We expect that the tourist inflow in Russia will rise by around 20-30% this year.”

Alexander Kurnosov, head of the association’s committee for inbound tourism, said that most tourists come from Asia. “The tourist flow from China rose by 30-40%, the number of tourists from India, Vietnam, eastern countries, Iran is also rising,” he said.
